Wes Enzinna’s news report “The Destruction of Breezy Point” at Vice.com shows that the Silver Gull Beach Club was severely damaged by Hurricane Sandy. “It looked like a ghost town. Every window was broken, most of the buildings leaned heavily to one side; some had collapsed entirely. There were two swimming pools, each filled with rubble and rainwater.” But the pictures accompanying the article tell the story. The beach club is located on National Park Service property and run as a concession as part of the Gateway National Recreational Area by Aeon client Ortega Family Enterprises. Our thoughts and prayers go out to them, their staff, and the residents of nearby Breezy Point.
